Luxora: how we finally beat the late-game waves

April 21, 2026 · Klara Vogt

We came into Luxora expecting a standard tower defence game and left with a notebook full of layouts. The early maps are forgiving, which lulls you into a rhythm, and then the mid-game boss waves arrive and quietly wreck everything you built. This is where most people, us included, hit a wall.

The first thing that clicked was upgrade timing. Early on we spread money too thin, buying towers everywhere. It works better to commit to two or three strong choke points and pour upgrades into those instead. In Luxora a fully upgraded heavy tower outperforms four basic ones almost every time.

Base-building matters more than it looks. The between-wave structures aren't decoration — the ones that boost tower range and slow enemies change how a whole map plays. We ignored them at first and paid for it. Once we started planning our tech unlocks around the map ahead, the difficulty curve smoothed right out.

Our last tip is about reading routes. Luxora draws enemy paths clearly, so use that. Place your slowing towers at the first long straight and your damage towers where the path curves back on itself. Overlapping coverage there gave us the cleanest runs.

By the end of the week we were clearing waves that had felt impossible on day two. That's the sign of a well-tuned game — the difficulty was always about our decisions, not the game cheating.
