Reading enemy waves before they hit you
Almost every tower defence game shows you the next wave, and almost every new player ignores it. That preview is the most useful tool in the game.
If a wave is packed with fast, light enemies, you want slowing and rapid-fire coverage. If it's slow armoured units, you need concentrated heavy damage. Building for the wrong type is how good layouts fall apart.
Get in the habit of checking the preview before you spend. Two seconds of reading can save a whole run, and it turns the game from reactive panic into calm planning.
Once this becomes automatic, you'll start pre-positioning towers a wave ahead. That's the moment tower defence really opens up.
